Scan math solver: photo in, steps out

No app to install. Open this page on your phone, tap the camera button, and point it at the problem. This math scanner by photo reads printed and handwritten work; a tilted page or a bit of shadow is fine. Screenshots from a tablet work the same way through "Upload". The recognised text is shown above the solution so you can correct a misread symbol and solve again.

AI can make mistakes. Check the work, especially signs and units.

How to get the most out of it

    1. Fill the frame with one problem. Several problems in one photo are read in order.
    2. Avoid glare across the numbers; a shadow is fine, a reflection is not.
    3. If the scan reads a symbol wrong, edit the recognised text in the box and solve again.
    4. Save the board as an image to keep with your notes.

A note for parents. The solver is most useful after your child has tried the problem. Compare their work with the steps and find the first line where they differ; that line is the thing to practise.

    FAQ

Does the camera work in the browser?

Yes, on iPhone and Android. The camera button opens the native camera; nothing is installed.

    Is my photo stored?

Photos are processed to read the problem and are not kept after the solution is returned. See the privacy page.

    Can it read handwriting?

Yes, for reasonably neat handwriting. The recognised text is always shown above the solution so you can correct a misread character and solve again.

Can I upload a math solver image instead of using the camera?

Yes. "Upload a screenshot" takes any JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC image up to 6 MB: a screenshot, a saved photo, or a scan.
