About
Why we built a math solver that shows its work
Solvecam is a small independent product. It started with a simple observation: the best moment to learn a method is right after you got stuck, and that moment usually happens at 9 pm with no teacher around. Photo-based math solvers exist, but most of them hide the steps behind a chat interface or a paywall, and none of them say "why" on each line.
What the service is
Solvecam is a web-based math solver. You submit a math problem as a photo, a screenshot, or typed text. The service returns an AI-generated, step-by-step solution: a restatement of the problem as it was read, numbered steps with a one-line explanation each, a boxed final answer, and a check line. There is nothing to install. The free tier allows 3 solutions per day per device; Plus is a paid subscription ($6.99 per month or $39.99 per year) that removes the daily limit and adds a second method and image export.
How the solver works
Your photo or text is sent from our server to a large multimodal AI model operated by Google (Gemini, via the Kie.ai API gateway), with strict instructions: solve only mathematics, read the problem from the picture first and restate it, write the solution as single moves with a reason for each, give the final answer separately, and finish by checking the result. The model's reply is validated for shape and completeness on our server before it reaches your screen; if it is incomplete or the model declines, you see "could not solve this one" and nothing is counted against your free solves. Where a second standard method exists, Plus users can request it.
What we promise
- Steps are never paywalled. The free tier shows the full solution.
- The solver says when it is unsure or when a problem is out of range. It does not fabricate an answer to fill the box.
- Photos are processed and discarded. We do not build a profile of your homework.
- It solves mathematics only. It will not write essays, answer non-math questions, or help during a live exam.
What we do not promise
Correctness every time. AI can make mistakes, and unreadable photos make more of them. Each solution ends with a check line; please use it.
Who runs it
Solvecam is operated by an independent software business. Write to the contact address below for questions, school licences and press.
